One of the fixes I stumbled across, between the loads of post talking about contacting your ISP (live in the EU, NEVER have done this nor will I) or changing the ports (already did, didn't do jack shit) I've found the unofficial launcher FFXIVQuickLauncher, found here. However, in the FF launcher I only get speeds of 4,7 Mb/s, which is frustratingly slow. I have a 300 mbit/s connection and in Steam I'm getting 25 Mbyte/s, so thats pretty fast. I too just begun playing FFXIV and noticed that the official launcher was very very slow.
